This summer Feed My Starving Children held a fundraiser at The Outpost Center. This was a fundraiser to raise money for a We Are Greater MobilePack happening at the Marshall Country Correctional Facility in Holly Springs, MS. The first MobilePack like this one was held in 2018. FMSC Event Planning Supervisor Ellen Mathiowetz shared, “It was unique in that donations and volunteers primarily came from within the Correctional Facility.”

See the video below from the first event!

Though their lives are woven with despair and often poor decisions, they are able to rise above all of that to help children in need.

Ellen talked about the impact that this first mobile pack in 2018 made on her, “The generosity, joy and passion of the inmates.” Many of them where impacted physically, spiritually, and emotionally. The inmates asked time after time, “ Can FMSC come back again tomorrow?”

In hopes of returning the following year, FMSC tried to find local sponsors but nothing was panning out. Ellen felt called to step up and raise the money. The Dessert Frenzy at The Outpost Center was her main fundraiser.

Ellen shared that she picked the Outpost to host the event after driving by it many times. “From the moment I began working with Mark, Morgan and the team, I was reassured of how awesome of a venue this is.”

[The Outpost was] extremely flexible, supportive and organized.

What is a Dessert Frenzy?

Friends and family helped bake delicious desserts for the event and after the program that shared the story of the Marshall County Correctional Facility, they were asked to donate to help pay for the ingredients and costs of hosting the 2019 MobilePack.

Just over $5,000 was raised during this event! They officially reached their goal of $24,000 and will be able to fully fund the 2019 MobilePack!

The MobilePack truly shows how all of us are greater when we work together to do something not one of us could do alone.
